Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Xabi Alonso led the way as Liverpool came from 3-1 down to beat Luton 5-3 in an FA Cup thriller at Kenilworth Road. Mike Newell's side sensed a huge upset as they recovered from Steven Gerrard's early strike - but the Reds staged a second-half fightback of Istanbul-style proportions to reach the fourth round. Gerrard gave the Reds the lead in the 15th minute with a stunning swerving effort from the edge of the area. But Luton never let their heads drop and drew level on 30 minutes when Steve Howard lashed home a right-footed shot and led 12 minutes later when Steve Robinson netted. Djibril Cisse then missed a penalty before Kevin Nicholls scored from the spot to make it 3-1 - but Sinama Pongolle (62) gave the Reds hope and Xabi Alonso's 30-yarder made it 3-3. Sinama-Pongolle's fine header 16 minutes from time made it 4-3 before Alonso scored from inside his own half with the last kick of the game.
