A Brazilian delegation, which included former player Romario who is now a member of FIFA's technical and development committee, showcased its bid in a 30-minute presentation in Zurich before the handover of the dossier to world football's governing body. FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: "We have seen in the past few days how football can bring joy and hope, and how it can unite people, with the victory of Iraq in the Asian Cup. And nothing brings more joy, hope and unity than the FIFA World Cup, when all the world joins together for a true celebration." The next step will be the inspection visit that FIFA will carry out in Brazil in late August to early September. Then on October 29 the CBF will have the opportunity to present their final bid to the FIFA executive committee, one day before this committee decides the host nation for the World Cup.
