Julio Baptista’s agents, Juan Figger and Herminto Menendez, played down rumours according to which the Brazilian international could be on the way to Villareal, saying: “Julio wants to join a club that will play in the Champions League.” A club like Milan perhaps? When asked about the rossoneri’s interest, the agents merely replied: “Milan are a great club.” According to Spanish newspaper As, Milan have made an official 17 million euros offer to Real Madrid for Baptista. The merengues however do not think the offer is sufficient. Sporting director Mijatovic is said to have asked for at least 20 million euros and will not let the player leave for anything less than that. It is believed Baptista’s wish is to stay at Real to prove his worth to the club.
